Synchronizing Logistics with Construction Schedules: 844 Tons of Equipment, 150 TEUs, and 5 OOG Packages for the VinFast Ha Tinh Factory

Following previous successful deliveries, Vantage Logistics (the parent company of VTLC – Vinh Tan Logistics) has completed another large-scale mechanical equipment shipment comprising 170 packages, with a total weight of 844 tons, 1,679 CBM and 150 TEU of containerized cargo, including 5 Out-of-Gauge (OOG) packages weighing up to 63 tons each.

Synchronizing with On-Site Assembly Schedules

The challenge of this shipment was not only its substantial volume, but also its demanding schedule. The entire delivery plan had to be designed to run in parallel and align precisely with the actual construction and installation progress at the site.

To meet this demand, Vantage Logistics established a “Just-In-Time” cargo coordination process. The freight, comprising both containerized (FCL) and breakbulk project cargo, was allocated and transported from the port to the factory in exact accordance with the engineering team’s assembly sequence.

This solution ensured the site always had the right equipment at the right time, preventing cargo congestion from obstructing the workspace while minimizing unnecessary storage costs.

Balancing Heavy-Lift Requirements and Transport Costs

Among the 170 project cargo packages, 5 press machine components fell under the Out-of-Gauge (OOG) category, with varying dimensions and weights ranging from 51 to 63 tons per unit. This created specific requirements during port handling and inland transportation to the project site.

Vantage Logistics proactively arranged suitable handling and transport methodologies for this heavy equipment group, carefully balancing the need for specialized vehicles and lifting operations against cost efficiency to meet the client’s planning. This approach enabled the effective handling of the OOG units while keeping logistics costs under control and maintaining the overall schedule of the shipment.
